Valerie Tee Lee (b. 1995, KR/BE) is an artist working across performance, text, and communal practices. Inspired by feminist pedagogy, her research-driven performances and installations explore embodied knowledge and amplify marginalized voices and silenced stories. Her experiences as an immigrant woman shape her work, leading her to engage with her body and the spaces she navigates critically.
Lee examines themes of suppression, diasporic literature, and the overlap between personal and historical narratives. Her work "Glossary for the Wild Tongues" addresses silenced voices through the fictional "Medusa Syndrome," while "Foraging Names-Archives" uses wax tablets and natural materials to reflect her connection with the non-human world, inscribing speculative narratives into these objects.
She has exhibited and participated in residencies at Rupert (LT), Podium (NO), M4 gastatelier (NL), Space Übermensch(KR), Sim (IS), and wpZimmer (BE).
Lee holds a BFA from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and lives in Brussels.
